Original Medicare (Parts A and B) covers a range of services like lab tests, surgeries and doctor visits, and certain necessary medical equipment.
Part C, also known as Medicare Advantage, offers the same benefits as Original Medicare but is run by private health insurance companies. They may also offer additional benefits. Some Medicare Advantage plans include prescription drug coverage, but not all do.
Part D is the Medicare prescription drug program. It is run by private insurance companies that contract with Medicare.
Medigap, also known as supplemental insurance, can be used with Original Medicare to cover “gaps” in coverage. Medigap cannot be used with Medicare Advantage plans.
It is important you consider your personal health care, prescription drug needs, finances and lifestyle when making decisions about how to choose Medicare coverage.
